Trophy Mule Deer
Hells Canyon produces some of the largest mule deer in terrain unsurpassed in the western United States. The Hells Canyon NRA offers a wild and challenging hunt in a very scenic setting. The rough steep canyons are home to some large bucks that are protected by the landscape and limited tags issued by the Fish and Game. The Fish and Game has recognized this magnificent landscape as an opportunity to preserve trophy class mule deer with the current lottery system used to issue tags.
Hells Canyon Outfitters are allocated a limited number of these revered tags. Mule deer hunts in the canyon will prove to be an arduous fair chase hunt with possible opportunities at large bucks with inside spreads greater than 30" and antlers totaling over 180".
Mule deer hunts will be conducted out of traditional wall tent backcountry camps. The camps are accessed by horse back and jet boat. Camp locations will be determined by preseason scouting for the largest deer. Daily hunts will be conducted by horse back and foot.
